Review: Benton Aloe Soothing Mask Pack

Benton Cosmetics products have never disappointed me before, so when I was lucky enough to be selected to review their Aloe Soothing Mask Pack, the newest release in Benton's line of aloe-based products which includes their Aloe BHA Skin Toner and Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel, I was ecstatic 🤩. Just to make it clear, I received this product from Benton in exchange for my honest opinion - hence, this review.

Aloe Soothing Mask Pack

Benton is known for high-quality ingredients, and this sheet mask is no exception. Designed for all skin types (it's free of alcohol, fragrance, and oil), and aimed at hydrating and soothing dry and/or irritated skin while helping maintain a healthy oil-water balance, the Aloe Soothing Mask Pack has a host of wonderfully beneficial ingredients. In particular, the mask's essence is comprised of 48% Aloe Barbadenis Leaf Water, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Sodium PCA, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract (1000ppm), and Sodium Hyaluronate.

Why are these ingredients beneficial? Aloe, used for thousands of years, is rich in polysaccharides, long chains of carbohydrates, which help nourish and hydrate the skin since they are responsible for the skin's natural ability to retain water, and are necessary to maintain skin elasticity and renewal. Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, commonly known as green tea, is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and helps cool and clear the skin. Sodium PCA is a derivative of proline, a naturally occurring amino acid that acts as a humectant, a substance that absorbs water from the atmosphere and pulls it into the surface of the skin. Sodium Hyaluronate, or hyaluronic acid, is another common humectant.

How Does It Perform?

With all of these ingredients, the Aloe Soothing Mask Pack promises to sooth, hydrate, and balance the skin - and I can confirm it did just that. The soft sheet mask was soaked with a thin, slippery essence that instantly hydrated and cooled my red, irritated skin as soon as I placed the mask on my face, and I hadn't even put it in the refrigerator beforehand. Imagine if I had! The mask hugged the contours of my face, adhering perfectly, which allowed the essence to blanket and sink into my skin for the full recommended 20 minutes of use. After I removed the mask sheet, I patted in the remaining essence and even had a bit left over to spread over my neck.

I believe the photos I've included speak for themselves. After using the Aloe Soothing Mask Pack, my skin was obviously calmed, hydrated, brightened, and cooled - literally. Usually after sheet masking, I need to quickly apply a thicker moisturizer to maintain the hydrated feeling since the heat from my face causes my skin to feel tight; after using this Benton mask, all I required was a spritz of hydrating mist! I certainly wish I had been able to use this mask about two weeks ago when I got a mild sunburn - I'm sure my recovery would have been much more pleasant.

I would absolutely recommend this mask to anyone who is looking for a cooling, soothing, and hydrating masking experience.
